day sixteen

Day 16

Fast to know GOD! The greatest thing you get from a fast is knowing GOD better. As the deer pants for the water brook so my soul longs after thee, O GOD.

The problem I believe is that we have almost taught that spiritual passion has become politically incorrect in the modern day, lukewarm church. It is almost as though we are considered a little flaky, and nutty, and crazy, and fanatical for fasting and praying. The church has become so carnal that it does not want any extremes. It does not want anyone really passionately seeking after GOD. We just want to keep the church at a nice little comfortable level for everyone. We do not want to be misunderstood.

I want to be misunderstood. I want the world to know that there is a people who are passionately seeking GOD. We are in perilous times and the only thing that will get our families through it and get our nation through it is fasting and prayer.

You know, the world says we are crazy. The church tells us, you know, it is incorrect to weep and become emotional. Do not raise your hands in church. Calm down. You do not have to fast.

I remind you that GOD has never done away with sacrifice in this Book (BIBLE). Where are you getting that from? That is man’s lukewarm, laodician teaching. This Book says, love the LORD your GOD with all of your mind, heart, soul and strength. We ought to go after HIM with everything we have got in this new year! Give GOD a big praise if you feel that way.

I am not crazy. I am just doing what JESUS did. JESUS fasted for 40 days. Elijah fasted. Moses fasted. Paul fasted. Peter fasted. John fasted. They all fasted. All of them. Daniel fasted.

Who are we that we think we do not need to fast?
